Best of the street

Friday, 3 December 2010

I absolutely love this look - it's totally relaxed plus she looks 1. warm, 2. comfy & 3. happy! I'm never going to be the kind of girl who sacrifices comfort for fashion so this, for me, is perfect ♥

I hope you all have a fun weekend planned. I'm heading out to buy our first Christmas tree since moving in together (exciting!) - and some pretty decorations, and then I just have to bake these lemon meringue cupcakes (found here). Ever since I found this recipe I can't stop thinking about them - Louise x

I'm finally beginning to feel normal again. It's so nice to wake up and actually feel energised! I feel all ready for the weekend now - perfect timing!

I hope you all have a lovely few days off work. Any plans? I may go to see the René Gruau exhibtion at Somerset House. His illustrations are so magical...

So here are my picks for best of the street for this week. I have to say that my favourite is the lady in the bottom left picture - oh the draping and colours of that dress!

Hello lovelies, I'm back from Manchester just in time to post my three favourites from the streetstyle blogs this week:

1) Sadly it is way too cold for bear legs here in London, but the minute spring comes around, I'm going to be referring to this picture for inspiration.

I love the mix of materials: the delicate, feminine dress juxtaposed with the heavier wool/tweed blazer and finished off with a pair of beautiful camel loafers. And I adore her hair colour (yes, I'm still very tempted to go red!)

2) I read somewhere that leopard print is now considered a neutral. Case in point above.

3) Who says brown is boring? Certainly not me...

I’m loving the first lady’s beautiful deep red cardigan that she’s thrown over her shoulders. If I tried to recreate that, you can bet your bottom dollar that it would be slipping off my shoulders within 2 minutes! I guess some people are literally designed for fashion. And isn’t it lovely to see someone in colour. In autumn I quite miss the flashes of colour from the clothing that people wear in summer and spring.

Hope you all have an extra special weekend. What are your plans? I’m off to our local fireworks display tonight with the OH, hopefully with a nice big mug of tomato soup. I’m praying it doesn’t rain.

My 3 absolute favourite looks that I've found whilst rummaging through my favourite street style blogs this week...

I'd be really interested to know what street style blogs you find the most inspiring?

For me, there are 4 stand out favourites that I return to again and again:

Here are just a few of my favourite from the street style blogs that I regularly read. There is so much inspiration out there at the moment. But what does frustrate me a little - and maybe I'm looking in the wrong places - but where are the curvy girls on the street style blogs? The ones dressing cleverly to enhance, disguise, flatter... All the women here look amazing and there's no doubt about it, they have amaaazing figures, but I would love to see more representation of the average woman on the street... Do you agree or is this out there and I'm missing it?

Feeling so sapped of inspiration lately... I want to blog but I'm finding myself at a complete loss at what to write, it's so frustrating! You'd think that with spring blooming I'd be awash with inspiration!

Anyway, enough of my moaning, hope you all had a lovely Easter break. It was the first time that I spent Easter away from the family. My parents were in France and one of my sisters was living it up in New York (I was so jealous), but I managed to fill the long weekend with a lot of vintage shopping (we have so many cute vintage stores popping up around us, it's amazing!), baking Easter cupcakes, eating a TON of chocolate, catching up on movies we've been meaning to see for ages and going out for a huge Sunday roast at our local. Sooo relaxing.

Perfect transitional outfits for this time of year when you're trying to embrace spring - but still need layers to keep off that chill!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My lovely twin sisters treated me to pizza and Sister Act for my birthday and it was such a fun day. We gossiped over bruschetta, pizza and wine and then laughed and ate our body weight worth of giant chocolate buttons during the musical. I love my sisters.

Loving these bursts of reds, bold animal prints and that gorgeous coat in the photo above (is it just me or does she look scarily similar to Sienna Miller?) The photo that I know I'm going to keep going back to is the one of the lady at the cafe. It makes me want to be that little bit bolder in the colours and patterns that I combine - it also makes me to get over to Paris asap!

Argh, I had a feeling that starting the new job and fitting in my usual blogging would prove difficult - and I was right! So sorry for the lack of blog posts last week. I need to get myself more organised over the coming weeks.

I'm playing catch up today, so these are my favourite pics from my go to streetstyle blogs from last week. Hope you enjoy!

How do the Swedes do it?

Any style I may possess just flies out of the window the second the temperature falls below 0°C!

I didn't find an awful lot on the street style blogs that really knocked my socks off, but I did fall head over heels for this girl's absolutely gorgeous coat. If anyone knows where to get it pleeeease let me know!

Hope you all have a fun weekend. We haven't got much planned. I'll just be packing for Nice, trying my best to finish my first knitting project and hopefully baking some more. Can't get enough of baking at the moment. Do you guys have any good recipes to share?

{Simple black palette but such beautifully chosen pieces.
I absolutely love her ruched skirt}

{This lady has to be French, right? So chic.
I'd be veeery happy if I had just 10% of her style}

{Cute, quirky and fun. I could imagine
Mary-Kate Olsen in something like this}

{One beautifully cut coat}

{I need to learn to layer like this. I also need to get myself that Mulberry. Kind of regretting that I cut up my credit card now...}

{Such a cute outfit. I love the way she's knotted her belt. Great inspiration for spring}

{Tough but beautiful. And you just can't beat a knaki parka}

{Stormy shades of grey with multiple strands of necklaces. Love}
